While not directly related to celebrating Black History Month, you can use your DirecTV channel guide to find reruns of such wonderful sitcoms as "Sanford and Son" and "The Jeffersons" almost any night of the week on TV Land. Black History Month started in the 1920s as a way to celebrate the unique contributions of African Americans to the culture of the United States. Since the explosion of television programming in the last decade, all Americans have a chance to explore the lives and times of African American leaders and entertainers in a whole new way. The programs offered on each DirecTV channel to celebrate Black History Month bring this distinctive culture to the forefront of our television viewing.
